He holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing from the Kellogg School of Business at the University of Chicago, further enhancing his knowledge and skills. His academic journey continued with an Executive Program in Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and an Executive Program at the Kennedy School of Business at Harvard University. Lorenzo’s academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic School at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and a Diploma in Computer Science from the Computer and Science Department at the University of Sao Paulo.

With over 30 years of experience, Lorenzo Madrid is a highly qualified senior consultant who has worked on a global scale. His career includes a decade at Microsoft Corporation, where he led IT project development and implementation for governments worldwide. Additionally, he has partnered with international software companies such as Cincom Systems, MPG, Online-Software, CF Software, Princeton Systems, MMDS, and EDGIX to develop and deploy IT systems for both public and private sectors. Lorenzo has held the prestigious position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Secretary of Education of the State of São Paulo, Brazil, overseeing infrastructure solutions that provided internet access to 6,000 school communities, serving 6 million students and 300,000 teachers. His work extends to Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Eastern and Central Europe, where he has developed public policies and established relationships with government leaders. Lorenzo’s expertise lies in governance, public value, and ICT public policies aimed at promoting economic and social development.

In recognition of his expertise, Lorenzo Madrid has been invited to speak at prestigious institutions and conferences around the world. He has lectured at institutions such as the Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policies in Singapore, the School of Government in Dubai, the Mumbai Management Institute of India, the Harvard Kennedy School of Business, and the University of São Paulo. His contributions extend to the field of literature, where he has authored both technical and fictional books and numerous articles addressing the critical relationship between ICT investments and socio-economic development.

He teaches at the Smart City Business America Institute and holds two Academic Fellow nominations, one by the Centre for Technology in Government at the State University of New York and a second by the United Nations University in Guimarães, Portugal.
